REMEMBR-HOUSE contest 2023

Classes and groups of people (13 to 19 year-olds), resident in EU Member States, can enter the REMEMBR-HOUSE contest submitting their Houses of Remembrance project.

Participants can benefit of the support of teachers/educators/cultural operators. They will have to present a project for a House of Memory referring to and further developing thinking and reflections on inalienable human rights.

Entries will develop the key themes of the REMEMBR-HOUSE Project:

  • The shared theme of house/home and what it means in people’s lives
  • Thoughts and remarks about the denial of rights
  • Active citizenship
  • The value & importance of personal choices
  • Dialogue, discussion and the exchange of ideas and opinions

The main concept of the REMEMBR-HOUSE Contest is the house, which, due to its shared identitarian meanings, facilitates empathy and makes it possible to establish link between the present and the past, thanks to personal stories that become symbols to think about the present and fundamental human rights.

  • Consult the kit and draw inspiration from the stories and archive documents it offers, using the worksheets to better understand and analyse the documents.
  • Choose the type of storytelling to use with the House of Memory, that is realisation of a prototype, writing a text in prose or poetry, realisation of a video, a photo album, a podcast, a comic strip, a social networking project or using the type of expression considered most suitable.
  • Write a report illustrating project (realization) and accompany it with practical examples, for instance: photos, videos, podcast excerpts, storyboards, renderings, drawings and the like.
  • Upload the proposal to the website
  • Projects will be assessed by the Project Partners (Fondazione 1563 and MEIS) and an independent external jury of experts.
  • The winning Memory Houses, from the first to the fifth, will be reproduced in a travelling exhibition and shown in various locations in Italy and abroad, all costs covered by the Partners
  • The first classified group will be invited to present the House of Memory at the Turin Book Fair (Salone del Libro di Torino) in May 2024
  • All travel, board and accommodation costs including guided tours to the cultural sites in the city will be borne by the Partners
  • The second classified group will receive a series of gadgets referred to the initiative and publications to the subject of Memory
  • The third, fourth and fifth classified will receive a series of gadgets of the initiative
  • The sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth groups will receive a gadget of the initiative
  • All selected projects will be published on this site (https://www.remembr-house.eu/).
  • Application opening: May the 30th, 2023
  • Deadline for submissions: December the 15th 2023
  • Award ceremony: January the 30th 2024
